How to use a flower stencil

  1. Open a design and print a test at small size to check the detail is cuttable.
  2. Print the final size. Wall-size tiled printing across several sheets is a Pro feature; on the free plan print the largest single sheet your printer takes.
  3. Cut the black areas. Fine petals need a fresh blade, so change it often.
  4. Stick the stencil down with low-tack tape or repositionable spray adhesive.
  5. Dab the paint on with an almost-dry brush or sponge, lighter than you think, in two thin coats.

Questions

Are these flower stencils free?

Yes. Anyone can browse them, and downloading the PDF is free with a free account. SVG and DXF files for cutting machines are Pro.

Can I use a flower stencil on fabric?

Yes. Use fabric paint, iron freezer paper or a stencil with spray adhesive to the fabric so paint cannot creep underneath, then heat set once dry.

How do I stop paint bleeding under the stencil?

Use less paint than you think, hold the stencil flat with tape or adhesive, and dab straight down rather than brushing across the edges.

Can I make a stencil from my own flower photo?

Yes. Upload it to the photo to stencil converter. A photo with the flower against a plain background gives the cleanest result.
