How to use a tree stencil
- Open a design. Silhouettes are one layer and the quickest to cut.
- Print a test, then the final size. Anything bigger than one sheet needs tiled printing (Pro) or a print shop.
- Cut the black areas. Thin branches need bridges, so keep the little white links.
- Tape the stencil level. For a mural, mark the ground line in pencil first.
- Dab the paint on with an almost-dry sponge and peel the stencil while the paint is still slightly wet.

Make a tree silhouette from a photoQuestions
Are these tree stencils free?
Yes. Anyone can browse them, and downloading the PDF is free with a free account. SVG and DXF files for cutting machines are Pro.
How do I stencil a tree on wood?
Sand the board, seal it with clear coat so the paint does not bleed into the grain, then stencil with acrylic and a sponge.
Can I make a large tree stencil for a wall?
Yes. Tiled printing (Pro) splits it across A4 or Letter sheets that tape together, or a print shop can print the PDF on one large sheet for you to cut from mylar.
Can I turn my own tree photo into a stencil?
Yes. Upload it to the silhouette stencil maker. A tree against a bright sky gives the cleanest outline.
